FP1 Parametric Filter

The prototype FP1 filter PCB is out for fabrication. I am uber excited about this filter. It's a parametric midrange control, very similar to the ones on Mesa Walkabout, WD-800, M-Pulse 600 etc. amps. Like all Underhill filters, it's different because you can apply it to each pickup individually. I am convinced this will make a host of fundamentally new bass tones; there isn't anything else like it on the market. Here are the specs I'm going to start with (final specs TBD):

  • Parametric "mid" sweep from 180-1800 Hz.

  • Boost/Cut from flat to +/- 12dB.

  • Phase correct output for combining with other Underhill filters.

  • Same Q pots (and other parts) as the FV1.

  • Same power requirement and smaller than FV1.

Here is a simulated curve at a mid frequency setting and full boost. Remember, you will have an independent one of these on each pickup, so it should be easy to do what you would typically do with a 2 or 3 band eq, but with added tones like a classic dual filter setup.
